We went out of our way to dine here because we had a hankering for sushi, and it was the only 5 star sushi place in the Orange County area where we were. 5 stars is a bit generous, but 4 stars is too low.
The food was simply excellent. We sat at the sushi bar (there were 2 of us), and while nice, the view of the chefs was obstructed given the seating position. We like sitting at the bar to be closer to the action, and we felt very distant -- a table would have been better. Not a big deal, but slightly below our expectations.
The staff were very friendly, but when the place got really busy, it was difficult to get our service person's attention. However, we did flag someone else down for more water and ginger. The service was prompt and the overall feel for the place was warm and friendly.
We asked the chef for a recommendation, and he definitely steered us in the right direction with the special fish and to some more traditional rolls. The yellowfin tuna special that he recommended was some of the best we ever had. And the vegetable tempura was definitely some of the best we ever had -- hot and not greasy at all. The other rolls we ordered (Rainbow, Ginza and the special Hamachi) were certainly above average. They definitely didn't overdo it on the rice to add 'heft' to the roll; they let the fish shine through.
When we got the final bill, we were pleasantly surprised and found the quality for the price absolutely worth it. It was quite reasonable relative to the quality of fish.
Definitely one we will return to if we are in the area. -

Came based on the reviews & am completely shocked they have been able to maintain a five star rating with their terrible service.
Wanted to order additional food; asked three different times to see a menu.
Asked three times for a drink refill.
Asked three times for the miso soup I had ordered.
Yet the Japanese family right next to us were attended to quickly the entire meal. Eye roll....
Food was decent when we FINALLY got it (all at awkward times. My friend and I ate completely separate- no flow) but for the price, it was NO where near worth it.
Whatever, would never ever come back here. -

Wow what amazing fresh and authentic sushi.
I absolutely love their chef's special Omakase.
I have been to Japan and this sushi was just as great. Trust the chef he will not disappoint. The service is so great and friendly. The staff is wonderful. Definitely one of my all time favorite sushi places in Orange County -

Yamame become my favorite Sushi restaurant in the area. The fish is extremely fresh and the creative nature that they build the roles is entertaining as well as delicious. Despite the large array of offerings on the menu always ask for the chefs special it doesn't disappoint. The restaurant is small but despite its quaint appearance the food is on par with the best sushi restaurants in the area.

Delicious sushi rolls and great atmosphere
The place is a bit on the tiny side so expect a wait during peak hours. Or you could grab a seat outside and enjoy the view. Although a bit on the pricey side possibly due to its location, the food flavors do not faulter.
